Most of the photographs at Light Reflected have been taken by me, Colin Woolf. A lifelong photographer with a passion for the natural world, I’m perhaps better known as a professional wildlife artist. Some images have been taken by my two daughters, Verity and Leonie: Verity is also a professional wedding photographer, and Leonie is a sea kayaking coach and creative artist.
I’m constantly inspired by changing light and the beauty of nature, even in the smallest details: patterns in a leaf or the spiral of a snail's shell. For me, painting and photography are two distinct but inseparable halves. Photography is more immediate than painting, but with my art I have total control over composition, lighting and subject.
None of the images on this site have been digitally manipulated, other than to adjust levels and remove the odd sensor spot. Panoramas have been created by cropping a larger image or deliberately shooting overlapping frames which are then stitched together. If nothing else they may well dispell the myth that it is always raining in Scotland. A lot of the images have been taken in March and April, even more proof !
All these images are available as superb quality fine art prints. Produced from the finest materials, they are printed onto heavyweight paper (usually made from pure cotton). Only archive-quality materials are used, ensuring your print will be as long-lasting as possible. The photographs can also be licensed for use in printing and advertising.
